Society in Nepal

In the context of a study of sociology and anthropology, society is the important and greatly used concept. In the general sense, society is a group of individuals that we see at a glance and a structure of their settlement. Though this aspect is necessary for society, its meaning is very broad in sociology and anthropology. Society is broad in a concept that includes individuals, institutions groups as well as different levels and aspects. In fact, the relationship and interaction of these elements are society. There is a complexity in its understanding than what has generally been done, individuals, groups and communities in a society are interrelated and interact with one another. Cooperation, competition, and conflict are also part of this same society. On the other hand, Society is a network of social interrelationships.

Etymologically, Society came from the Latin word socius, which means companionship and sociability. It shows that society is related with social relations. In addition to a structure, society emphasizes the relation within that. Naturally, people in society are on dependent each other from the familial and communal to the state level. No one is perfectly self-reliant. Due to this dependence, human actions are meant for the attainment of certain goals. Those behaviors and processes change over time. Human behaviors are affected by social norms, values and traditions. These regulating assumptions make human behavior and activities more certain, organized and goal oriented. Certain concepts have been developed in sociology to understand and analyze society and its processes. Among them, function and the theories of conflict and interaction are important.
